Mayan Riviera
December 16th, 2009Hola! I recently got back from a vacation in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico. This was my 5th trip to Mexico so it wasn’t too overwhelming. I have visited the country enough times that there is no culture shock any more. I’ve observed the people, the way of life, and how to fit in. It’s kind of like a home away from home. I’ve also been brushing up on my Spanish, because it’s so much fun to be in a foreign country and be able to speak their language. When you’re surrounded by people conversing in Spanish, which is so playful and happy, the English language can sound pretty lackluster.
I snapped a few (hundred) photos on my trip and I thought why not share a few. Shot with Canon EOS-20D.

My favourite store in Playa de Carmen. There were several bins full of beautiful knitted things made by Chiapas people of southern Mexico. It was like digging through treasure. I held back and only bought two tuques and a pair of knee-high socks, but easily could have left with an armload of stuff. So unique and colourful.
This girl was really intrigued by the camera and kept turning around.
